Solving by factorising

A quadratic equation has the form ax² + bx + c = 0. To solve one by factorising, we write the left-hand side as a product of two brackets. If two numbers multiply to give zero, at least one of them must be zero. Setting each bracket equal to zero gives us both solutions.
